The Biden era: The great US energy reset?

By any account, these are tumultuous times for the US energy industry. The arrival of a Democratic government in Capitol Hill with a pledge to decarbonise the power sector by 2035 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050 has the potential to fundamentally transform the US energy landscape in the years ahead. A successful COP 26 international climate summit in November could accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels, and go some way in determining whether the US can regain global leadership on climate and energy. Meanwhile, the Covid-19 pandemic continues to cast a long shadow on the US shale sector and the US claims to energy dominance that the sector’s meteoric rise supported. Opportunities and risk abound in this new landscape, and as energy companies survey the rapidly changing landscape, they will need to refine strategies to keep on track with the pace of the energy transition and take advantage of the new growth opportunities emerging.

The inaugural FT Energy Source Live: US Edition provides an unrivaled platform to deep dive into the issues set to reshape the industry in the years ahead. Join industry CEOs, thought leaders, energy innovators, policymakers, investors and other key influencers to hear their expert insights on the future of US energy leadership in its global context, what it would take for the US to play big in energy innovation, and the new roles, opportunities and business models emerging as traditional boundaries across the industry dissolve.
